How to Replace BMW Door Glass
BMW door glass replacement
Step 1: Removing the Panel
Look for the weather-stripping on the door panel. With the help of a screwdriver, unscrew any screws that hold the door panel in position. You could then use the trim panel tool to pry the panel away from the door. As you’re doing this, you should ensure the plastic clips that hold the two in place come off.
Step 2: Removing Other Parts
Once the panel comes off the door, rotate the door latch cable. These cables are the ones that cause the locking system to function adequately. After this is done, remove the insulation material that’s wedged into the door. If you have side airbags, you would want to remove them along with the air bag connector so you can comfortably work on the window.
Step 3: Lowering the door glass
Subsequently, lower the window so you have access to the nuts, located at the bottom of the door glass. If the window is jammed, you will have to manually position the door glass along with the help of the window switch to lower it.
Step 4: Remove the door glass
You may now remove the window by tilting it and lifting it up and out. If the door glass regulator is broken, you will have to replace it by first removing the regulator. To do this, loosen and remove the nuts that hold the window regulator in place. Also remove the cable that’s attached to the door frame.
Step 5: Replace the door glass
After replacing the window regulator and regulator cable, tighten the nuts that hold them in place. Next, replace the old glass with a new one and tighten the screws that position this glass onto the window.
Step 6: Re-attaching Parts
Reattach all previously removed parts, along with the panel. Finally, test the window to make sure it works smoothly.
