The Best Way to Clean Your Windscreen

The Best Way to Clean Your Windscreen

There is nothing worse than trying to see the road through a windscreen that is covered in streaks. Not only are they irritating, when the sun hits them it can reduce your visibly to that of a soapy glass of water. You may not even know if the streaks are outside, inside, or on both sides. While making a quick stop at the gas station to squeegee your windscreen will help you for the moment, London Car Windscreen has a few suggestions on how to clean your car glass properly. This will help you see clearly while you are on the road, and avoid the need for a windscreen replacement.

External Cleaning

To start, clean the windscreen with regular plain water. Taking a soft windscreen brush or a car glass squeegee to remove the top layer of dirt from the glass. After you have gotten rid of the first layer of dirt, choose your favorite glass cleaner. This can be Windex, soap, and water, or even specially formulated car glass cleaner. Apply your chosen clean to one side of a microfiber towel or soft cloth. Use horizontal strokes starting at one side of your windscreen until you reach the other side. Avoid using circular motions since they will result in streaks on the glass. Once you are done, allow your windscreen to air dry completely.

Take a moment to pull your windscreen wipers away from the glass and clean them with the same car glass solution you used for your windscreen. This keeps the dirt from the blades from making your glass streaky again the first time you use them. It’s also important to change your wiper blades at least once a year.

Interior Cleaning

Cleaning the inside of your windscreen might be a bit tougher than cleaning the outside purely due to the awkward angle. The process you will follow will be almost the same as the one you employed on the outside of your car. Instead of spraying the glass with water, you will skip this step.

Spray the cleaning solution directly onto the towel or microfiber cloth and wipe your windscreen in vertical motions starting from the top and going down towards the bottom. Vertical strokes will allow you to notice any streaks that appear and you will easily be able to pinpoint if they originate from the outside of the car, or from the inside. After you clean the entire surface, take a dry soft towel and buff the entire inside of the windscreen until it reaches a high, streak-free shine. Cleaning your windscreen is as simple as that!
