Tempered Glass
The rear windscreen and side windows are made of a glass that is hardened with hot and cold temperature extremes called tempered glass. Using both hot and cold temperatures on the glass gives it the tensile and compressive strength that it needs to be about 10 times as strong as the original glass.

Because of the way the glass is tempered with hot and cold temperatures, the edges of the window are weaker than the middle. This difference makes the glass break into a bunch of small rounded pieces rather than large, sharp pieces that can harm you or your passengers. Because of this shattering process, the windows and rear windscreen cannot be repaired. The result would put you and your passengers in danger.
